What was your ambitions before you went in to the studio to record this album?

Thrak: What we wanted to achieve was brutal, heavy, technial music with
angry lyrics. Wanted the sound to be gig as all hell so you can feel
everything bouncing off your chest.

Are you satisfied with the result? Did it become as you wanted to?

Thrak: Yes we are very happy with the results. We achieved what we set
out to do and feel the anger.

What inspires you to make your music?

Thrak: Very easy, people. They're a lot of great people and they're alot
very negative people. They fuel the fire and we are sick of they're shit.
So they inspired us to write this and we want those negative people to
know, we can't stand you.

How would you describe Death Machine´s music.

Thrak: Technical, Heavy, painful music.... Chunk is where it's at and
you'll love banging your head to it. Music that gets your blood pumping,
great to workout to.

How do you make your songs? jamming? or is it one person who gets an idea and then present it for the rest of the band?
Thrak: I come up with the material on the guitar, present it to the band. Devin and Mikey add they're flavor to the music and then Kirk writes lyrics over it. That's our process for this disc and seemed to workout great.

Lyrics, real or made up? When I read the lyrics they seems quite personal? Are they?

Thrak: Yeah Throat has had a pretty messed up life to say the least. He's been homeless, neglected, you name it, he pours his soul into. People always say he sounds so angry and I go well yeah. Kirk is a good person but has had a life that not many would want.

Will there be a European tour in 2004? Any festivals?

Thrak: The only festival we have booked in Europe at this moment is Headway (Holland) in April. We want to play festivals and just contact us or www.Intromental.com in order to make this happen. Our live shows KILL!!!!

Are you ”profsessional musicians” or do you have a regular work beside the band?

Thrak: We do recieve royalty checks but it's not enough at this time. I give guitar lessons, Mikey's a Iron-worker, Dev works in a comic book store, Throat is a security guard, Elias is a drug counselor.

In couple of days, 2003 will turn into2004. Lets sum the metal year 03. Best and worst. It´s been a good year I think. Haunted, Turbonegro, Crown, Entombed, Mustasch, Nine just to name a few bands with good records this year. But Metallica´s St Anger was a big disappointment.

Thrak: I agree with you on all of that, seriously. You can see right through bands and luckily we have had some great music come out this year

Is there any records you are looking forward to in 2004?

Thrak: I really enjoy the new Lamb Of God disc, it just kicks ass!!!!! Some people actually say they hear new Metal in Lamb of God and I don't hear that at all. It's Heavy and you can feel the hate in the singers voice. So many European Metal bands I dig and I just can't put down one.

How is the metal scene in California now? Any good bands on the way up?

Thrak: The scene is actually doing pretty well out our way. Plenty of good bands but you have your crap as well. California always has good thrash bands.

Any local bands that you can recommend to Get Metal readers?

Thrak: Artillery Hell and Ankla both kick serious ass. I think they'll have deals soon. Plus many others who are just missing just one member.

What do you listen to? Favorite groups?

Thrak: I listen to Nevermore, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Darkane, Soilwork, Dillinger Escape plan, Agony Scene, Grip Inc, I better stop.

Favorite Swedish metal band?

Thrak: Meshuggah

Do you have any wild, crazy tour memories you want to share to our readers? he he

Thrak: Have a ton of good stories but I will go with the most recent: When we played at The Pound (A club in S.F.) Dec 13th of 2003 both Kirk and myself were very sick with the flu. I didn't get there till later but this girl walks in and goes I'm here for the band. She looks at our tech Hex and asks if he's in the band, he answers no. She goes, I have no use
for you then. I finally get to the club and i'm walking in and this girl proceeds to follow me. I get in there and she's just kicking there looking at me and I'm chatting with Mikey and he has a huge smile on his face. I ask the girl is there a reason you're in here, she smiles yes and I just laugh say something to Mikey and took off. I could only guess her age was
16 or 17. We get done with the show and I walk back to the back stage to change my shirt. As I take off my shirt guess who comes walking in to watch. She has this big smile and I just go up next to her and say good night and took my gear home.

Best gig you played?
Thrak: That's a tough one, we've played alot kick ass shows

Best consert you been to?
Thrak: Pat Metheny at the Greek Theater off the "We live here tour"

Thank you, and Merry Christmas and a happy new metal year.
And I hope I will see you in Europe next year.

Thanks for the interview brotha, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year!!!!
